Answered: Any opinions on the 'online therapist' Dr. Graham L. Peveller?

Dr Graham is really REALLY unprofessional!

He has such a short temper about everything, he mispells every other word, and I ended up counselling him on his own problems that he was having at home.

An example of his short temper: He wanted an address to send the letter. So I start off my giving my Postal Code and he suddenly ends the conversation by claiming I was exhausting and tiresome because I hadn't provided my full address.

I payed for those sessions, yet he cut them short. In real life, face to face conversation would not happen like that. Needless to say, that was nothing to loose your cool about.

I would recommend him only to get the letter as soon as possible, DO NOT count on any other type of counselling whatsoever.

Answered: Does anyone know of any transfriendly immigration agents/information on emigrating to Australia for trans people?

They aren't trans-specific as such but, if you're in Victoria, you could try the Gay and Lesbian Immigration Taskforce for Victoria. Their website says:

"The Gay and Lesbian Immigration Task Force (Vic) Inc. (GLITF) provides support and assistance, and through its pro bono Registered Migration Agents (Advisers), migration advice to gay and lesbian couples who are members of GLITF Victoria and who are seeking Permanent Residence status for the non-resident partner of an individual who is an Australian Citizen, an Australian Permanent Resident, or an Eligible New Zealand citizen."

(There are also such Taskforces for Queensland, NSW and SA.)

	Best of luck.

Answered: how effective is feminization hypnosis?

In my experience various self-hypnosis methods have been very helpful throughout my transition, both in living happily from moment to moment, and in creating the body and life I now have.

While hormones do their work in my body, the thoughts and feelings I choose to run (as in a program) also affect my body, my demeanour, and my overall health.

Mind and body are interconnected, and the effects of our subconscious programming....we are *always* doing it, for good or ill!...are usually greatly underestimated, at least in our Western culture.

Imitation/impressions/'doing voices' (some shamans call this 'Grokking') can be very useful for developing a feminine voice, for example. I have had good success with this.

I have used learnt ideas from NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), creative visualizations, shamanic work, and affirmations (inspired by Louise Hay) to help align and focus my own thoughts, and to reinforce desirable feelings.

Some of my personal recommendations for learning are: http://www.healyourlife.com/ http://www.changethatsrightnow.com/ http://www.huna.org/

If you can find/afford one, a skilled hypnotherapist (or an urban shaman) who understands what you want to achieve and why can help you do all this. Many (but not all) life-coaches are familiar with these ideas and methods too.

Maybe different trans/gender groups who have websites online should have advertising banners to promote projects/organisations run by community members too. Depending on what type of business it is, paying for advertising could be seen as an investment (unles it's like most of our community orgs - not-for-profit)

Answered: Once I get the sex reassignment surgery, will my vagina be able to self lubricate?

Some XY women who have undergone sex affirmation surgeries find that prostatic fluid and vaginal mucous combined is sufficient to provide lubrication for intercourse. Like many XX women, however a lot of us need additional lubricant to make it a comfortable and satisfying experience. No two vaginas are the same... another miracle of diversity.

Answered: Available GP resources in Adelaide, South Australia?

thanks all for your help, I will contact O'Brian Street Practice :)

anonymous - The wpath? Are you saying that he supports the 3 months documented real-life experience living as a woman before hormone replacement?

if that is true than i would def look at other options as I never agreed with that method, it is much easier to pass with the benefits of the replacement such as fat redistribution, reduction in hair growth and softening of the features.

Answered: Where is the CHEAPEST place to get hair removal done in Melbourne??

I agree it's unwise, and possibly dangerous, to be too worried about the price of hair removal treatments. If those providing them are competent and effective they are quite likely also expensive. But if it has to be done (as is often the case) then, expensive or not, the money must be found.

My personal belief is that, even though it is a specialized skill, practitioners generally charge way too much for what they do...and it should, ideally be provided on medicare for those transitioning....

The ladies who do my hair removal (in Geelong) are specialists in hair removal...ie not a 'salon'...which, to me, is reassuring. I know that they know their stuff and what my needs are from week to week. Because I was referred there by another ts woman (a friend) who told them that I was only on a pension they give me a bit of a discount, which does help.

As regards transition, thinking long term and in hindsight, money is not necessarily the bottom line. Other factors like competence and professionalism, location, friendliness and 'bedside manner' can be equally, or even more, important in the long run.

I did forget to mention hair removal, which is not cheap, I agree. If hair removal is needed or desired it's best to tackle it early on. I put mine off and am now (seven years post op) still dealing with it. The more done now, the less will need to be done later.

Answered: Laser hair removal in the inner suburbs using Alexandrite laser

Report back:

I didn't manage to stop into the one you recommended, but the one I attended went well.

They were immediately helpful and very attentive. My trans status didn't really come up, but I'm sure they were aware of it.

They seemed quite professional, and they told me that everyone they employ is a clinician and not just a beautician. Thats why they are able to use medical grade equipment. They are also affiliated with a plastic surgeon.

They have a wide range of equipment, and seem to undertsnad how it can all work together to get the result you are after.

Major drawback is cost. $220 each. I asked about a package deal, and she hesitantly offered to reduce the cost to $180 each after the 5th session.

I had my first treatment the next day, and it seemed quite successful. She was very attentive to my well-being and says my skin reacted the right way.

Compared to my experiences with 3 other providers (2 of them in NYC) this was the best so far. If you can afford it, I recommend going to a professional shop like this.

(And as I wrote elsewhere, going somewhere cheaper may end up costing you more. So save up the $2500 or so you'll need and do it the right way, rather than do it piecemeal, which is what I did years ago when I was broke.)

That said, I can report back again once I have more evidence on this

When going through HRT roughly how soon does the body start redistributing fat around the body???

Hello,

I am just wondering, once starting the hormone replacement therapy how soon will I start to see a change/redistribution of fat around my body to when it moves more so to my hips, thighs and buttocks??
Also another important question, when will my skin start changing/ how long after hormone replacement therapy because these two I'm looking forward to haha :) Just also wondering how long til my facial contour will change/if it changes.

I just want to know a rough time line of these different changes specifically :)

HRT and psychologists?

Hi, I moved to Melbourne about three months ago, before that I have been ritualistically denied access to both hrt and medical help for chronic pain issues that I've had for about three years now. I have the go ahead from my psychologist, is there a doctor I can see who can help me enact hrt without psychiatrists being involved, plus sort out chronic pain issues. Where should I begin? Is there anyone at Northside (etc) who could at least take a properly holistic care approach to my case?

I would especially like to check out that I don't have Graves Disease because of how being pre top surgery affects my ability to control heat, and thus my thyroid. Very internal neck pain affects my quality of life quite severely.

How much of a cost will I be looking at for a change?

Right now my situation at home is not exactly ideal, and I know that it'll mean that I'll have to pay on my own, without even any advice. Like, I can't even tell my parents about it yet, so I'm sorta on my own with this.

So I was just wondering how much on a money scale it would all cost. Specificly, just the SRS and the legal name and gender changes, for a start. I've only got $6,000 with me right now, and something tells me that won't be enough. But it will be about a year or so before I will be able to have the surgery, so I guess I do have some time to start saving.

So, would anyone know how much I should aim for? You don't have to tell me the prices down to the last cent; I would be happy even if it was rounded to the closest $10,000. So, maybe about $20,000 or $30,000, do you think? I'd just want to know now, so I can start preparing over the year for it.

Trans support groups in Melbourne

I am seeking support groups for trans individuals, similar to what can be found in Sydney and overseas. I am already aware of all the social groups in Victoria (e.g. Melbourne Genderqueer, YGender, Ausgender etc.) but I am wanting to find a group that is run by members of the community or professionals for those starting transition.
I belive nothing exists so I am wondering if ZBGC, Northside, Southern Health etc would be willing to give this proposal a thought - we need a support group out there for the trans community. I am a trans boi who knows the community too well but still have no-one to ask for help through my own transition. Can something please get up and running?

*Embaressing question* How will the gender changes impact me in a sexual way?

Yes, this is a bit of a private question, but I do think it deserves an answer. I'm currently a male, but one day I will become a female. And because my genitals are going to be completely replaced, I'm scared that it might cause some serious changes or shocks to my system. Will my nervous system accept the new changes to my body, or will it get completely confused? I hope that it won't want to start rejecting it.

There's another line to this question, to put things more bluntly now. Will I have the same sexual feelings as a woman does? Will I actually be able to have sex (or umm, the act you do when you're alone)? Will the feelings and experience still be wonderful? Or will the feeling be gone or even painful?

Sorry that I'm asking all these private and personal questions. But the last thing I'd want to become is a eunuch. I know it's a pretty tender topic, but it's also the strongest and most wonderful feeling a person can have. I just don't want to lose it.

Will I ever be able to bear children in the future?

When I recently learned that I couldn't have children, I actually felt like crying. It was almost like being told that I wasn't allowed to be my chosen gender.
So umm... does anyone think it will be possible in the imminent future? Say, in another 10 or 20 years? I'm still hoping that I can one day have a child I can call 'my own'. Call me weird, or an extremist, or idk... its just in my dreams actually. It almost feels like I'm developing a motherly instinct (or the equivalent at least).

How exactly will my breasts be changed during my operation?

This is a bit of an embarrassing topic, but I do have a few questions about the changes they will make to my breasts. I hope none of this is too rude to anyone - I just need a few answers in this topic.

My first question is: how exactly will they change my breasts/chest so that it looks like it has real woman's breasts? Would they really look like real womanly breasts, or just like some sort of man-boobs (or moobs, as they are nicknamed)?

So, with that question out of the way, l was wondering how exactly they would go about the process. I'm guessing I'll have to have a form of breast implant so they won't be flat. So... would it have to be a form of silicone (or equivalent), or could they use something from my body or let my muscle somehow grow there? That's what I'm hoping for anyway - that my muscles could be in my breasts like a natural woman would have. Would I be able to have that? Or would that be at least possible if my breasts were a bit smaller?

Another question I have is: would I be able to produce milk, like a mother with a child could? I know it's a bit of an odd thing to ask, since I may never even fall pregnant to start with. But umm, just for the sake of things I was wondering. Just to be closer like a woman I suppose.

Do you think I should change my adams apple so I look more like a woman?

This might be a bit of an odd question. A friend told me that a woman's adams apple is alot smaller than a man's one. And because I am sorta aiming to look as much of a woman as I can, I sorta placed the adams apple on my list. But I was also told that changing one would be a very hard process - and a probably expensive one too. Is any of this true? Do you think that I could still look like a girl/woman with the same adams apple I have now?

Is it possible to get a form of psychotherapy?

I was wondering... are there any psychological services or therapies for when someone changes their gender?
So... just to clear things up a bit, its a bit more than the general knowledge we can get from the research we make. Would it be possible to have a form of psychotherapy that helps us 'believe' we are our gender on a subconscious scale? One possible form is hypnotism, which can help us with our subconscious actions.
I'm mainly looking into this so It can help me like the opposite gender. Not to discredit gays or lesbians here, but I'm straight and I sorta want to stay that way. So if I like girls now, and I one day become one, is it possible to have some form of psychological therapy that can help me like boys? Or maybe not...

Anyway, there are other issues that I would need to look into. They are usually small things on a subconscious level. That's why I'm hoping that something can be done so I actually 'believe' that I'm a girl.

I do facial feminization surgery, speech therapy or voice box surgery before I transitioning so that look female?

What relationship to my sons do I put on forms?

Recently, I was speaking with some people regarding relocating, and re-enrolling my kids in sporting and educational facilities. On enrolment forms they ask for the parents’ names. I will be putting myself down as the only parent, as they live with me. And of course pronoun will be Ms. But there is one thing I don’t know how to respond to;

On several forms it says “Relationship to xxx”.

Considering I do not want my Transgender status to become known…

Technically, I’m not their mother, I was their father. If I tick “Mother” am I committing perjury, and I risk offending the boys. If I tick father aren’t I going to create confusion and more questions, and if I choose legal guardian, I have no documentation to substantiate that, and it’s also technically not true.

So, what is the correct answer?

thanks

If I'm about to start living as a woman how do I start going shopping for female clothes (The only ones I've worn are my mothers haha) and also what do I start doing about hair as unfortunately because I've portrayed being a boy to the world (because I always knew I couldnt tell my family) so I've worn boys clothes for so long which has been killing me but because I now live in the city in my alone time I really really want to have my own clothes that I can wear and I know will be comfortable with.....also especially what do I do about hair as unfortunately my hair isnt the type thats grows long and at the moment I have hair that is quite short :( What would you suggest in the ways of wigs and longer hair so when I do go out I can go out wearing all girls clothes and appear as a female to everyone else???

I guess what I'm really looking for is someone who would come with me and just help with the whole process, that would be amazing.....I would love to know what you other girls think and I totes need some great fashion advice!! ^_^

Hiya ^_^

Just wondering once a person has their doctor prescribe medication, does that person take drugs orally, as in swallow and/or chew them or is it just by injection or is their a choice or is a combination of the two together?? Just wondering as I may have a bit if fear in relation to needles....

Does medicare and/or healthcare card cover the medical aspect?

Hello,

I am at the moment wanting to start hrt (hormone replacement therapy) so that, at the very least for as soon as possible I can start looking a lot more feminine and be more womanly than what my male body portrays :/

I'm just wanting to know if Medicare and/or Health Care Card will cover specifically things like hrt, the actual appointments with the doctors and the consultations with the psychologists we need to see??

Also, are we able to get started on hormone replacement therapy when we first go to the doctor or at the second consultation or do we really have to go through the long process to start even just the hrt???
