Welcome to ZBGC's Questions and Answers site smiley

Can you please give us a better idea of what kind of help you're looking for? Perhaps you're looking for some company or advice... or maybe something more specific?

You could try contacting Seahorse Victoria. They're a social and support group for the transgender comunity. Their members are spread around Victoria, so maybe they have some members in Ballarat.

Their website is at:

http://seahorsevic.com.au/

They also have a Facebook page:

Best of luck to you!

Here is a list of regional resources related to GLBTI (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex) concerns.

There are some Ballarat-related resources in the list which you may find of interest.

In particular, one of the resources mentioned is Zaque, which is a social and support group for GLBTI young people in Ballarat. Zaque is run by the City of Ballarat Youth Services. Even if you are not young yourself, you may find it useful to speak to their GLBTI worker who might be able to recommend local trans-related and/or trans-friendly resources. Here is Zaque's web page:

Ballarat Community Health (also in the list) may also be of help.

Hi thanks for your help, although I have not yet had contact with the Zaque coordinator the other staff at youth services were fantastic,if nothing else I think I now have some friends that I can have a chat or go out with,a very friendly and helpful group of girls.

they have put me in contact with one girl, who has told me there is little, really nothing T.G. or crossdressing orginised in Ballarat, despite a large group that fit the bill.It would appear we all do our own thing in and arround Ballarat, then head off to Melb.or Daylesford for group get togethers were they feel more comfortable.

Thanks again,I will keep looking, I do seem to have a refreshed look at life lately so while I am in such a good place you never know what could happen.

Thanks Jayne

Hi Jayne. Thanks for letting us know how you went and we're glad to hear that you're in a good place currently. It sounds like a good idea for you to keep looking for resources too.

We're very pleased to hear that the other staff at youth services were so helpful. We do encourage you to see if you can still speak with the Zaque coordinator, as they may know of resources that the other staff at youth services aren't aware of.

If you hear of any other Ballarat resources, please let us know. We're always keen to hear of more regional resources.

I am a trans* male and an 20 month long loyal member of zaque ballarat. I live in Ballarat aswell and i have several friends who are T.G who live in the area. I have a lot contact with Youth services because i am very heavily involved in Zaque and Sonika. The girls are fantastic there but i would honestly suggest you talk to Flo, the zaque co-ordinator and potentially join the group if you're in the age range. Even if you aren't Flo can help you out with near on anything. She is one of my biggest resources. Also, if you need someone to talk or have a coffee. Just contact Flo and ask if she can contact Markus for you.

There is also a night, if you are over 18, called Dorothys friends which happens on the 3rd friday of each month and it is specifically LGBTQI designed.
