I want to go to the gym but I don't think I can use either the men's or women's change rooms without getting harrassed. Any advice on what I should do?

The first thing I did when I was looking for a gym recently was to explain my situation and ask to see their locker/change room facilities. I also asked whether they had disabled change and shower rooms available and ensured that I would be able to use them if I wasn't comfortable using the gendered facilities.
Make sure that the gym has separate stalls for showering rather than an open gang situation and that they are large enough to also change in.
Good luck!!

Is there a staff changeroom? Perhaps you could explain the problem and ask to use that?

It may be difficult to find a gym with a unisex toilet but there's always the disabled toilets, if your gym has them. Another thing you could do is to go to the gym with a friend who can give you company and support.

Finally, I know this probably isn't the ideal suggestion but if you don't mind not going to the gym, you could try working out from home. That's what I started doing so I could avoid the same problem.

This website is specific to transmen so it may not be suited to your situation. However, you may find it useful nonetheless. I personally think it contains a lot of common sense.

The website this is from is called Hudson's FTM Resource Guide. I find it very useful in general.
